Seems like many GOPers are getting the heck out of Dodge this month when President-elect Barack Obama takes the oath of office. What are your plans for the Inauguration?

I will be there at the Inauguration. I did not vote for or support Mr. Obama for president. But on Jan. 20, he will become my president too. And I want him to become a very successful one.

The current economic situation is too severe and international tensions too precarious to wish failure on a party-line basis. There are certainly a number of issues upon which I will have disagreements with the incoming president and I will express those when and where it is appropriate, but times like these require actions that are less about ideology and more about practical solutions and I will participate in those solutions to whatever extent I am able. Besides, given the historic nature of this inauguration and the president-elect’s oratorical abilities, I will be surprised if the speech is anything short of inspiring.

So, my wife and I will be present at the Inauguration, Jan. 20, and we will hold a reception at my office in the Longworth Building (Room 1507) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST Jan. 19 for any constituents who are in D.C. that week. So, if you are in town, feel free to drop by and say hello.

May God bless America and our new president.
